If you are reading this blog entry, you have either been invited, are planning on coming, or are interested in coming to an private Concealed Weapons Course that I am hosting at Jessica and I’s home on Thursday, March 11th, 2010 from 6:00pm-10:00pm. As many of you know, I am quite passionate about the rights that our country gives us to carry concealed weapons and the protections that those weapons can and do give to you as the carrier for you and the well being of your family and friends…

The course is being taught by a man named John Donnatello, who I was introduced to by my bro-in-law, Ben Gunn. John will be teaching the state-approved 4 hour Concealed Weapons Course. The fee for the training is; $40.00 (forty dollars). The fee can be paid in Cash or Check (written out to John Donnatello). In addition to the $40 course fee paid directly to the instructor. There are a few other items that need be completed to move forward will full licensing with the State of Utah.

• Completion of approved course (done after thursday for $40)
• Must complete a fingerprinting card for the BCI and FBI Database (available at the BCI – West Valley for $15 when you pay your state application fee)
• Recent photo (also can be provided by the state…must be printed out, not digital)
• Pay the state of utah application fee of $65 (when you turn in your completed packet you pay the fee)

AND VOILA… About 6-8 weeks later, you get a shiny card in the mail!

I am currently reading his book CRUSH IT! and there is a “*” in the book that says “want me to explain this idea more? email me”… So i did! I emailed gary directly and did not plan on receiving a response. Yesterday gary himself emailed me back and sent me this link to the video, and when I responded letting him know that I think it is AWESOME that he responds personally to his emails, he responded yet again letting me know that he “has to do it” and that being that authentic IS his ticket into the new online landscape that we find ourselves in!

As many of you who know me surely know… one of my most cherished “MAN CRUSHES” is the famed author of “The 4-Hour Work Week”, NY Times Best Selling Author, Tim Ferriss.

I have had the AWESOME opportunity of briefly getting to know him on a couple different one-on-one lunches that I have been able to have with him over the last 6-8 months. (Thanks Garrett Gunderson)

(this is what Heaven is to me by the way…)

ANYWAY…. I am a disgustingly huge fan of his, and I am constantly checking all of the content that he puts out.

A recent blog posting of his really caught my attention, and I am seriously grateful to have read it… AWESOME content. It is titled: 5 Travel Lessons that you can use at home.

There are 5 points that he makes within the post that are all awesome and can immediately be applied to ones daily life, but the once that stuck out to me the most is one, that will be the most applicable in my personal and business life effective immediately is one titled; SLOW DOWN (below is a brief excerpt)

“All too often, life at home is predicated on an irrational compulsion for speed — we rush to work, we rush through meals, we “multi-task” when we’re hanging out with friends. This might make our lives feel more streamlined in a certain abstracted sense, but it doesn’t make our lives happier or more fulfilling. Unless you learn to pace and savor your daily experiences (even your work-commutes and your noontime meals) you’ll cheating your days out of small moments of leisure, discovery and joy.”

There are many people who are struggling financially, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. By ourselves we will never make it but together through our combined strength there is nothing we cannot accomplish. If your feeling weak, lift someones burdens. If your feeling spiritually lost, pray for someone else. If you are on the verge of bankruptcy volunteer at a soup kitchen. If you are physically impaired than find someone who is struggling for life and be their support.

The reason why we MUST NEVER QUIT is because we all need one another. Reach down and lift someone up! Take from your pocket and give to another. There is NO way we can fail if we stand by one another. Be the voice of change. You do not need a government to bail you out or to provide you with a hand out. Together we stand united in all things! May you always recognize your unique, divine, and inspired place in this world.

DEFINITION; [PASSIONATION] – “the ability to increase or make someone question their passion the ability to be passionate. So, “passionation” is when we share what we are passionate about and it helps someone with their passion”

The above definition is found in an original blog post from a good buddy and coach of mine; AARON DOMMER. He is a daily hustler and I am proud to associate with him often. Please take some time to read the original post, also titled “PASSIONATION”.

NOW, SINCE YOU HAVE TAKEN TIME TO READ HIS POST (EVEN THOUGH YOU PROBABLY HAVE NOT) I wanted to expound on the awesome topic of PASSION.

PASSION is an interesting topic, because it is a personal choice. Yes, one’s PASSION (or lack thereof) is partially determined by their life’s situation and the experiences that they come into contact with. Yet, I personally feel that at the end of the day, a person’s ability to be PASSIONATE or their choice to NOT be PASSIONATE is in fact a personal choice that can only be dictated by that individual.

Or at least that is what I thought, until I read my buddies post on “PASSIONATION”. After reading his thoughts, it sparked me to realize that our ability to be passionate can be malleable or further defined by the inherent PASSION of those with whom we associate.

Wait a second…??? A persons ability to be PASSIONATE and stand in power in what they “do” can be affected by those with whom we associate? WOW! (this is where you start to think deeply about the types of people with whom you choose to associate and affiliate with)

I realize that I am being a bit facetious, but the point I am trying to make is that a person that I currently affiliate and associate with, Aaron Dommer is in fact PASSIONATE about his life and the principles in which he chooses to live. THEREFORE, his “PASSIONATION” (the ability to increase or make someone question their passion and/or ability to be passionate) is very high, and therefore here I am questioning my own PASSION in my life and in what I “do” everyday and I having high hopes that someone who reads this blog post will gain some value and pass along the PASSION that I feel that I bring to the proverbial “table” everyday.

PASSION is; “any powerful or compelling emotion or feeling, as love or hate”. One can be PASSIONATE about anything, and that PASSION can be positive or negative.

Do yourself a favor, and make a distinct decision today to begin associating yourself with the type of network, friends, and associates that CHOOSE to be POSITIVELY PASSIONATE, and go spread some “PASSIONATION”…

Lately, I have been upping my involvement on the Social Media Sites, and I have been often attempting to provide legitimate “conversation starters” to hopefully provide a few more relevant conversations than the usual; “I just ate a Tuna sandwich for lunch” or… “I was just thrown up on by my child, etc…”

Katie… Awesome. I love that. Yeah, if you allow finances (or lack thereof) to drive the ship, then you are allowing scarcity in. (the idea that you won’t have enough or will not be provided for). Glad to have helped. This whole thought came from me overhearing this mom this weekend, tell her six year old, that the reason he was not in baseball like all his friends, is because it was too expensive. I wanted to smack her and then pay for her kids baseball… Haha.

Brennan… I feel that ones reason to do or not do anything should be driven by an inner soul purpose. (I know that comes across cheesy, but here me out…) example: I sell houses for commissions it true, but what if my singular goal was to assist in home ownership creation instead? I would create something and give people something that they could not have without me, all the while, still make those same commissions.

Even if it is about money (there are realities to budgeting money, and at times perhaps you can’t afford the proverbial baseball) you should offer something else to the kid. This provides a positive gain in their life (”we get to spend more time together this summer, exploring”) rather than a negative, or a loss (we… Read More have to lose something, like baseball). Perhaps the kid was already enrolled in several activities and one more would break the bank, or at the least be excessive. Instead explain that it is about balance in schedule. Kids, whether rich or poor, need to know there are limits- but we all know that if something were very important to us, money would not be the thing keeping us from it. So this parent just sent the signal to the kid that something so trivial as money kept him from socializing with friends and feeling included. Tsk tsk!

Katelin, you rock! Thank you for adding to this dialogue. Your psychological expertise is always welcomed, as well as your multiple years of childcare experience. I’m really glad you brought that point up. I got off my original point and off one my own financial tangent instead. The point I was attempting to make but did not, was the fact that … she made it about the “lack of money”, which trains children before they even get started to be in a financially scarce mindset.

This dialogue more than explains itself, along with the point that I was trying to make which is two-fold.

1. MONEY SHOULD NOT BE A DRIVING FORCE AND IS NOT A LEGITIMATE REASON TO DO OR NOT DO ANYTHING (if you are involved in a business venture, and the only reason that you are involved is because if not, you will miss out on MONEY, I’d run away and fast)

2. IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN AND WANT THEM TO GROW UP AS PROSPEROUS AND FINANCIALLY SAVVY PEOPLE, PLEASE DO NOT START THEM OFF IN SCARCITY (that means that YOU, yourself must not operate in a scarcity paradigm and say things like; “I am sorry Tommy, but baseball is too expensive for you to play”. there are 1,000 different and better ways to express the same point, without teaching “tommy” that lack of money is driving this ship)

I appreciate those of you whom are still reading at this point, and have dealt with my soapbox opera.

I hope that this was valuable for you, and assisted in opening your mind to the fact that there are plenty of positive ways to talk about, deal with, utilize, and be around MONEY or LACK OF MONEY without acting in a scarce or “there will never be enough” type mindset…
